Our Story

Made by a dad who noticed

When my wife came home after giving birth to our daughter, I watched her go through something I didn't fully understand at the time. She had just done the most physically and emotionally intense thing a human body can do and the weeks that followed were harder than either of us expected.

She was healing, breastfeeding, and running on almost no sleep. And what was available to nourish her through all of it? Cookies. Granola bars. Whatever was quick and easy to grab between feeds.

It didn't feel good enough. Not even close.

The gap nobody talks about

The more I looked into it the more I realized this wasn't just our experience. Postpartum nutrition is one of the most overlooked areas of maternal health. Birth depletes the body of iron, B vitamins, and omega-3s at a rate most people don't realise. Breastfeeding demands an extra 500 calories a day. And yet the options available to new mamas are largely the same: lactation cookies, protein bars, and supplements that sit in a cabinet untouched.

What I felt was missing wasn't another supplement. It was real food. Something genuinely nourishing, easy enough to make with one hand and a baby on your hip, and built specifically around what postpartum bodies actually need.

Building something better

I came from a background in product design, so I did what I know how to do, I identified the problem, researched the ingredients, and started testing in my kitchen.

It had to be made from whole food ingredients with real nutritional value. It had to be genuinely easy, not "easy for someone who has time" easy, but "you can do this at 6am with a newborn" easy. And it had to taste good enough that a tired, depleted new mama would actually want to eat it.

Batch after batch, the Oumama oat bake came together. A soft, sliceable bake packed with brewer's yeast, chia seeds, and whole rolled oats. Made with ingredients chosen specifically for postpartum recovery.

Where we are now

We're a small brand, built from a real kitchen, driven by a real experience. Every ingredient is chosen deliberately. Every recipe is tested until it's right. And every decision is made with one question in mind: would this actually help a new mama?

We're just getting started. But we're building something we genuinely believe in: real food for the people who deserve it most.
